The length of treatment will vary based on each individual and we will check in about this regularly. Some clients find that they benefit from weekly sessions for a few years, whereas some feel ready to move to biweekly sessions after a few months. I do find value in meeting weekly for the first few months to develop rapport and build momentum.

Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and typically occur weekly or biweekly. In some instances, therapy sessions can be extended and this is something that we can discuss if applicable.

I’ve chosen not to be paneled with insurance companies for a few reasons. Insurance companies require a formal diagnosis, which is then tied to a client’s permanent medical record and I don’t feel that this is necessary for effective therapy. I also feel that if the insurance company is involved in a client’s treatment, then they may have a say about treatment interventions, approaches, and frequency without actually knowing the client’s needs.
That being said, many insurance companies offer out-of-network services and I can provide you with a statement to submit for partial reimbursement. Payment will be due at the time of session and I can provide you with a monthly superbill to send to your insurance. In order to determine your out-of-network benefits, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask what out-of-network coverage is for the following CPT codes: 90791 and 90837.

I require a 48 hour cancellation to avoid being charged for the session. This is because if a client cancels within 48 hours, it is difficult to fill their slot, which I reserve ahead of time. Clients are charged their full session fee if they miss their appointment or cancel within 48 hours.

I accept most major credit cards, check, cash, and/or HSA/FSA cards. HSA/FSA cards cannot be used for late cancellation/missed appointment fees.

We will have a 15 minute introductory phone call to get a sense of what is bringing you to therapy and determine goodness of fit. There is no cost for the 15 minute phone call. I will also check in with you throughout our work together to see how the process is feeling to you and I encourage feedback from my clients to maintain a strong therapeutic alliance.
